There wasn’t much humor at the 2023 White House Correspondents’ Dinner on Saturday night. This included Woke “jokes” by host and liberal “comedian” Roy Wood Jr.

Watch and try not to cringe at the “jokes” about school shootings and drag shows for kids.

wow

President Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris were seated on stage along with “comedian” Roy Wood Jr., who provided the evening’s entertainment. Wood’s jokes were aimed at Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, who predicted he would not be swayed by humor when it comes to his policy positions.

This year’s White House Correspondents’ Association dinner took a darker tone by ironically highlighting attacks on press freedom. Tamara Keith, NPR’s White House correspondent and president of the association, spoke of the hundreds of journalists around the world who are currently detained for “the simple act of doing journalism, which is not a crime.”

The Biden administration is arguably the most hostile to press freedom in American history. According to recent testimony from former acting CIA Director Mike Morell, he said he was pressured by the Biden campaign to squash the Hunter Biden laptop story in October 2020. Morrell said that he orchestrated the infamous “50 intelligence agencies” letter claiming the story was nothing more than “Russian disinformation.”

Twitter files revealed that US government agencies collaborated with Big Tech companies to squash the Hunter Biden story ahead of the 2020 election. Most American voters believed that an honest report from the history would have affected his vote before the election.

This is in addition to the hundreds of American citizens and journalists who have been censored for simply sharing their political views on social media. The White House has routinely applauded such censorship efforts.

The Democratic National Committee even went so far as to call for censorship of private citizens on social media platforms like Facebook. James Woods, for example, came under fire for sharing a post on Hunter Biden.

At the White House Correspondents’ Dinner, President Joe Biden and First Lady Jill Biden met privately with the parents of Evan Gershkovich, a Wall Street Journal reporter who has been jailed in Russia since March on espionage charges . Gershkovich’s employer and the US government have denied the charges. Some dinner attendees wore buttons that read “Free Evan” in a show of support for the jailed journalist.

Also in attendance was Debra Tice, the mother of Austin Tice, who disappeared at a checkpoint in Syria in 2012 and has not been heard from since. US officials believe Tice is still alive and are working to secure his release.

The gala event featured a mix of celebrities, media moguls and political figures. Among them were Liev Schreiber, John Legend and Chrissy Teigen, and former California governor Arnold Schwarzenegger, who opened the event with a pre-recorded video emphasizing the importance of a free and independent press.

The dinner, which was canceled in 2020 due to the pandemic, was a family event for Biden, who attended several as Barack Obama’s vice president. This year, as president and presidential candidate, Biden didn’t take the opportunity to take aim at his critics. Instead, he focused on supporting journalists and promoting press freedom.

Of course, Biden did not highlight his administration’s record of press censorship, attacks on free speech and election interference. Neither did the “press” who fawned over the president while obediently holding his tongue.
