TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The strategic policy of the Central Bank of Iran (CBI) is to sideline the US dollar in trade and currency exchanges with other countries, the head of the CBI said.

Mohammad Reza Farzin made the comment in his meeting with Oman’s Minister of Trade, Industry and Investment Promotion Qais bin Mohammad Al Yousef on Monday in Tehran.

During the meeting, Farzin noted the full readiness of the Central Bank of Iran to withdraw the US dollar from trade and economic transactions between Iran and the Sultanate of Oman.

Adequate ways have been opened to carry out commercial and economic transactions based on the national currency unit with trading partners, including Oman in full, the governor stressed.

Americans use the dollar as a political tool to pressure countries, while other world currencies are growing significantly, especially in the Asia region, he continued.

Elsewhere in his remarks, Farzin noted the constructive talks held between Iranian and Omani officials on the development of monetary and banking relations and reiterated that Iran is ready to use bilateral and multilateral monetary treaties in trade transactions with Oman and the country’s trading partners.

Emphasizing on the use of joint debit cards between the monetary and banking network of the two countries, he said that necessary discussions have been held in this regard with the officials of the Central Bank of Oman.

Farzin also referred to the summit of the Asian Clearing Union (ACU), scheduled for June in Tehran, and noted that the use of bilateral and multilateral monetary treaties among ACU member states will undoubtedly it will lead to increased trade ties and also the elimination of the dollar. exchanges in commercial transactions between these countries.

Oman’s trade and economic delegation arrived in Tehran on Sunday to participate in the 5th Islamic Republic of Iran Export Potential Exhibition named “IRAN EXPO 2023”.
