South Carolina youth pastor accused of filming girls in the shower

A youth pastor South Carolina accused of taping a woman while she showered is now facing new charges after allegedly filming girls in a church shower, officials said.

In accordance with WCSCdeputies with the Greenville County Sheriff’s Office opened an investigation on May 30 after receiving information from the Greenwood County Sheriff’s Office.

According to the Greenwood County Sheriff’s Office, Daniel Kellan Mayfielda 35-year-old youth pastor, admitted it videotaping a woman while in the shower on May 27.

Court records state the woman told police she was taking a shower at her mother’s house when she noticed a light outside the bathroom window. He looked closer and saw Mayfield standing in the backyard by himself.

Police then spoke with Mayfield, who admitted to filming the woman, officials said. He was accused of voyeurism.

Greenville County deputies continued to investigate Mayfield and discovered that he allegedly filmed several girls in the bathroom of the Gowensville Baptist Church. Landrum, where he worked. Officials said they have identified six victims as young as 14.

Mayfield reportedly set up and recorded video inside the restroom on at least three occasions, dating back to July 2022, according to authorities.

Officials believe Mayfield acted at the same time and don’t believe anyone at the church knew what he was doing.

The church confirmed that Mayfield was employed as a student pastor, but was fired the day of his arrest, officials said.

Mayfield was taken into custody on June 1 a Boiling Sources, authorities said. He was charged with five first-degree counts sexual exploitation of a minor and a charge of voyeurism and bond dismissed during the hearing.

The investigation is ongoing and officials believe more charges will be filed.
