Is New York City Mayor Eric Adams Finally Changing His Tune?
On October 20, 2021, then-mayoral candidate Eric Adams tweeted: “We must protect our immigrants. Period. Yes, New York City will remain a sanctuary city under the Adams administration.” fast forward September 2022and when asked by CNN’s Jake Tapper if he still believes that, and whether migrants should still come to New York, he doubled down and said yes.
And now a year later, in an epic reversal of rhetoric, the pro-sanctuary city mayor is now predicting that the migrant crisis will “destroy” New York City. “Let me tell you something, New Yorkers. I’ve never had a problem in my life that I didn’t see an end to. I don’t see an end to this. I don’t see an end to this. This problem will destroy the city of New York. It destroys New York City,” Adams said during a City Council meeting. “We’re getting 10,000 migrants a month. . . . Now we’re getting people from all over the world who have decided they’re going to come. cross the southern part of the border and enter New York City.”
His comments came on the same day more illegals were bussed into the city.
Adams’ office has estimated that the new influx of migrants will cost the city 12 billion dollars over the next three years.
