Former CIA agent takes charge of ‘election politics’ on Facebook

Aaron Berman, a 17-year CIA veteran who already held a senior position on Facebook’s “disinformation” team during the 2020 election, has been promoted to “head of election policy” at the company now known as Goal.

Berman served at the CIA from March 2002 to July 2019. During that time, he wrote and edited the President’s Daily Brief, an influential top-secret document prepared by the US intelligence community that is given to the president every morning.

According to Berman’s Linkedin, he enjoyed positions of considerable influence at the agency, including “oversight teams of dozens of analysts and multimillion-dollar budgets” and leading briefings for members of Congress and members of the Security Council national

In 2019, he left the agency and joined Facebook (now known as Meta), where he became the senior director of product policy for “disinformation”. According to Berman, he “built the US Disinformation Policy Team’s workforce and put policies into practice during critical events.”

While Berman wouldn’t say what those “critical events” were, his move to Facebook’s “disinformation” department coincides with the run-up to the 2020 election, when Facebook and other social media platforms censored leading Republican voices and conservative news sites with the guidance of deep-state entities.
