Florida principal steps in, lashes out at Florida private school student [VIDEO]

A Florida principal has been arrested by police after a disturbing video surfaced showing him physically assaulting a student. Dontay Prophet, a self-proclaimed “beacon of integrity and faith,” was filmed choking, slapping and whipping the student with a charging cable at Destiny Leadership Academy in Ocala, northwest of Orlando.

The shocking incident, which took place on May 10, was caught on security cameras and later released by the sheriff's office. The footage shows the Prophet struggling with the boy before pinning him to the ground with his legs. The director is then seen hitting the boy in the face with the cable, injuring him and twisting the boy's ankle.

Authorities allege the child was held in the room for approximately 40 minutes. It was a teacher who heard the screams and reported the incident, which led to the discovery of the footage.

During the investigation, the boy described himself as “shy” and “scared” and mentioned that he had experienced pain in his hips as a result of the incident. His mother did not know what had happened until the police contacted her.

Prophet, after his arrest, was informed that the entire assault had been caught on camera. He initially claimed that he had used physical force to get the boy's attention, arguing that the boy was trying to harm himself. However, he was charged with aggravated child abuse and false imprisonment of a child under 13.

This is not the first time the Prophet has faced legal trouble. In May 2019, he was arrested on charges of sexually abusing a minor he had met while working as a camp counselor in 2017. The previous case involved allegations of lewd and lascivious child abuse and d 'attempt to interfere with custody of children. Although Prophet initially planned to plead no contest to the charges, he changed his plea and made the case a sex crime. Despite this, one charge was withdrawn and the other could not be sentenced to Propheta.

Prophet's employers at Destiny Leadership Academy, including Executive Director Dr. Elvira Higgins, have declined to comment on how she landed such a prominent role after her previous legal troubles.

A closed-door meeting was held between school administrators and parents to address the situation. Prophet's employment history shows he had worked as a behavioral technician and paraprofessional, but resigned in 2019 under circumstances related to his arrest.

On Prophet's personal website, he acknowledges his 2019 arrest and describes it as baseless accusations that destroyed his reputation. He claims to have emerged “victorious” from the incident, but offered no further details about the case.

Prophet also includes a glowing tribute to an undisclosed “outstanding politician” on his website, praising his own leadership and passion for excellence. He mentions plans to pursue a law degree in the near future and lists Western Governors University, Santa Fe College, and Southeastern University as educational institutions.

Prophet is currently being held without bond in the Marion County Jail. His next court appearance is scheduled for June 11.
