The world of Disney is about to get a lot more woke.

In a new trailer released on Thursday, Disney unveiled its reimagined version of the classic 1953 animated film Peter Pan. The remake, titled “Peter Pan & Wendy,” stars a diverse cast, with Alexander Molony and Ever Anderson playing the title roles, and Alyssa Wapanatâhk as Tinkerbell.

The trailer also reveals that the Lost Boys, traditionally portrayed as white boys, will now be portrayed by a multicultural cast, including newcomers Jahzir Bruno and Thimios Bakatakis.

The remake, directed by David Lowery, will be released in theaters and on Disney+ in 2021. It follows the original story of Peter Pan, a boy who refuses to grow up, and Wendy, the young girl he takes to Neverland.

The casting of the film has been praised by many for its inclusivity and diversity. The casting of the Lost Boys, in particular, has been hailed as a step in the right direction for Disney.

“It’s exciting to see Disney finally embrace diversity in their films,” said one fan on Twitter. “It’s been a long time coming.”

The remake of Peter Pan is just the latest in a string of Disney films that have featured diverse casts. Last year, the live-action remake of The Lion King featured an all-star cast of African actors, including Donald Glover, Chiwetel Ejiofor, and Beyoncé.

Disney has also recently announced a remake of the classic animated film Mulan, which will feature a mostly Asian cast.

It’s clear that Disney is taking an important step towards creating films that reflect the diversity of the world we live in. With the remake of Peter Pan, Disney is showing that it is committed to casting films in a way that is inclusive and representative of all people.

It’s an exciting time for Disney fans, as the studio continues to make strides towards creating films that reflect the world we live in.
