The second vice president of the Democratic-Farmer-Labor Party of Minnesotawho previously vowed to “dismantle” the Minneapolis Police Department amid widespread Black Lives Matter (BLM) protests, is now calling for tougher crime laws after she was violently robbed this week.

In a lengthy Sept. 7 Facebook post, Shivanthi Sathanandan claimed the carjacking incident took place in the driveway of her Minneapolis home in front of her children, who are 4 and 7 years old.

The incident left her with a broken leg, deep lacerations to her head and bruises and cuts all over her body.

Ms Sathanandan shared a photo of herself with what appeared to be blood pouring down her face alongside the post.

Four very young men, all with guns, violently beat me to the ground in front of our children.,” she wrote. The youths held our neighbors at gunpoint when they ran and tried to help me. All in broad daylight.”

Look at my face in the picture. This is the face of a new mother [expletive] out of it” he continued. “A mother whose only thought was, ‘Let me run far enough and fight long enough for my children to have a chance to escape.’ This is the face of a mother who has just heard her four-year-old daughter screaming non-stop, her 7-year-old son pleading for someone to come help because the bad guys are killing his mother in the backyard, the their neighbors screaming in outrage… all while being hit with guns, kicked and punched.”

Attackers must be “held accountable”

“These men knew what they were doing. NO DOUBT they have done it before. Yet they are still on OUR STREETS. Killing mothers. Giving babies psychological trauma that a lifetime of therapy cannot erase. No doubt and no remorse”. Mrs Sathanandan wrote.

“I am now part of the statistics. I was not silent when I fought these men to save my life and my babies, and I will not be silent now. We must take illegal guns off our streets, catch them. young people who they’re running wild creating chaos in our city, and WE’RE KEEPING THEM IN CUSTODY AND CHASING THEM,” he said.

look at my face REMEMBER ME when you are thinking about supporting letting minors and youth out of custody roam our streets instead of holding them accountable for their actions.” the Democrat wrote.

A Minneapolis Police Department report obtained by KSTP states that the vehicle of Ms. Sathanandan was later abandoned by the suspects and recovered.

It is unclear if any suspects have been arrested. The Epoch Times has reached out to the Minneapolis Police Department for further comment.

“Dismantle the Minneapolis Police Department”

The alleged attack on Ms. Sathanandan and his subsequent comments come roughly three years after he accused police of “systematically failing the Black Community” and vowed to “dismantle the Minneapolis Police Department.”

In a post on Facebook At the height of the BLM protests taking place across the country, sparked by the death of George Floyd while in police custody, Ms. Sathanandan wrote: “Let’s dismantle the Minneapolis Police Department. Say it with me. DISMANTLE THE Minneapolis Police Dept.

“MPD has systematically failed the black community, they have failed ALL OF US. It’s time to build new infrastructure that works for ALL communities,” he wrote. “If you still don’t agree with that basic fact, I don’t know what to tell you.”

In her Thursday post detailing the alleged carjacking, Ms. Sathanandan promised that the criminals would not win.

“We need to take our city back. And this won’t be the last you hear from me on this,” he said.

The Democrat concluded the lengthy post by thanking the “amazing officers of Minneapolis’ 4th Precinct, Mayor Frey, Chief O’Hara, paramedics, neighbors, friends and DFL family” who “all came to our help during this terrifying experience.”

“I am so grateful for this community that we love,” she wrote.
