Local residents in the blue state of Massachusetts expressed their anger over a plan to house hundreds of illegal immigrants in a former prison, which will be turned into an emergency shelter.
Officials in the small town of Norfolk were left scrambling to respond to concerns after the state told them the former Bay State Correctional Facility would be used to illegally house about 450 people in the country
“The overflow site is meant to help homeless families with children, many of them migrants who have been sleeping at Logan Airport,” Boston 25 reported.

The prison is state-owned, and Norfolk city leaders essentially shied away from any responsibility, according to the affiliate, saying Democratic Gov. Maura Healey made the decision.
“There's no going back when this happens, our schools are overcrowded, we have a budget problem, this is not a humanitarian issue, this is a math issue, it can't happen,” Norfolk resident John Semas said.
One local woman added: “Now we're considering adding extra kids to the plate of our teachers who are already spread too thin and hope it works?”
