The incident happened on July 1 and the arrest of the 53-year-old suspect only happened recently.

According to Blair, who spoke with investigators, the suspect allegedly broke through the car window by breaking a rock and pointed his gun at Blair's head, demanding he open the safe.

Blair engaged the suspect and used his training to grab the masked man's wrist.

After a three-minute struggle, the suspect fled. Blair used the altercation to remove the suspect's mask, allowing for easy identification.

Police identified and arrested the suspect, Tommie Lee Williams, after Blair's valiant efforts.

He was arrested by Gwinnett County Sheriff's deputies and U.S. Marshals and has been charged with armed robbery, among other charges.

Blair has been praised for his bravery and credited his years of self-defense and karate training for his ability to protect himself and assist in the arrest of Williams.

A Chick-fil-A spokesperson said the employee was supported by the company and is looking forward to returning to work as soon as possible.

Blair urges others to pursue self-defense training, stating, “Hopefully, you never have to use it, but just in case you do, this tool is in your bag.”
