WaPo Humiliated After Apparent Hatchet Job on Hispanic GOP Rep Exposed for World to See

On August 4th, 2020, the Washington Post was left with egg on its face after an apparent hatchet job on the Hispanic Republican Representative from Florida, Carlos Gimenez, was exposed for the world to see.

The Washington Post had published a piece by journalist David Fahrenthold that painted Gimenez as a hypocrite for allegedly not following the social distancing guidelines he himself had put in place for Miami-Dade County. The piece was accompanied by a photo of Gimenez with several other people, all of whom were not wearing masks.

However, it was quickly revealed that the photo was taken months before Gimenez had issued his social distancing guidelines. In addition, it was also revealed that the photo was taken at a private event, and that Gimenez had been wearing a mask at the time.

The Washington Post was forced to issue an apology and a correction to its story, acknowledging that the photo was taken before Gimenez had issued his social distancing guidelines, and that he had been wearing a mask at the time.

The incident has sparked outrage in the media, with many accusing the Post of engaging in a hit job against Gimenez in order to smear him and the Republican Party. The incident has also raised questions about the Post’s journalistic integrity and its commitment to accuracy.

The Washington Post’s apparent hatchet job on Carlos Gimenez has left the paper humiliated and facing accusations of bias and inaccuracy. It remains to be seen if the Post will take any action to address the concerns of its critics, or if this incident will lead to a change in the paper’s editorial policies.
