'Unbelievable honor!' Randi Weingarten's fear-mongering school choice shames backfire

Taking “confused” to new levels, union boss Randi Weingarten warned of “fascism” and “violence” as she presented an apparent list of enemies that included former President Donald Trump.

Speaking Monday at the opening session of the American Federation of Teachers (AFT) Convention in Houston, Texas, President Weingarten seemed determined to headline “All things!” discussion by National Education Association President Becky Pringle.

Referring to opponents of Marxist ideology in government schools as “extremists” who are “afraid of what we do,” Weingarten flagged the election's rhetoric as he asserted, “The election in November will determine which path we will take as a nation. Progress is possible, but so is the eradication of the rights and freedoms we hold dear.”

“…rarely is it a dramatic event or an attack that lets fascism in. The violence comes later after they're voted in,” the union leader told attendees who were asked, “Does anyone in this room doubt that if Donald Trump is given a choice between what's good for him and what's good for for working families, what? would he choose?”

“No!” came the reply.

Earlier in the day, AFT delegates voted to endorse Vice President Kamala Harris as the Democratic Party's new presumptive nominee, and as she closed her speech, she denied her own record on masking and blocking while supporting much in the propaganda talking points.” Imagine a country where hate has no bearing and freedom rings! Freedom to vote, to live, to breathe! Freedom to marry! Freedom of families to make reproductive decisions! The freedom to read! The freedom to join a union!”

In addition to demonizing Trump, the screen behind Weingarten at one point showed a who's who of pro-school choice figures that included Corey DeAngelis, Christopher Rufo, Oklahoma Superintendent of Public Instruction Ryan Walters and even social media expert Chaya Raichik.

“The head of the teachers union just got on stage and called all these people a threat to the public school system. AMAZING HONOR!” the latter published through his Libs of TikTok account. “Thank you @rweingarten! WE NEED TO SHUT DOWN THE DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION.”

Similarly, when DeAngelis noted, “It's great to be around the parents with both @realchrisrufo and [former Education Secretary Betsy DeVos]. We're winning,” Rufo reacted, “That's great.”

Earlier this month, Pringle put on a similar “bewildered” performance that led many to compare her to Benito Mussolini via “The Office's” Dwight Schrute.

“We are the heirs of all those who did this work before us. We have to move on. NEA delegates, we can do this job. We have to do this work. We have to do this work. We will do this work because our students are depending on us to win all things,” he said before ending, “NEA we must win all things! Everything! Everything!”

In his own closing that led to a song from the Hillary Clinton-produced Broadway show “Suffs,” Weingarten declared, “When the history books are written about this moment, let them record that the people we have united, we have voted against this existential threat! That we have continued to march for progress! And that we have sought to create one more perfect union! Progress is possible!
