The headlines yesterday read “Trump indicted for the third time.” Four counts of different “conspiracy” charges were leveled against President Trump and six unnamed co-conspirators by Jack Smith, the dubious “Special Prosecutor,” over Jan 6. They contend that the rally (which went sideways, likely by the design of the Feds), was Trump’s attempt to overturn an election. They stated that he interfered with the ‘peaceful transition of power.’
The six unnamed co-conspirators include 4 attorneys, a political consultant, and a DOJ official, according to Fox.
Trump indicted again: The charges:
Conspiracy to defraud the United States, Conspiracy to obstruct an official proceeding, Obstruction of and attempt to obstruct an official proceeding, and Conspiracy against rights. All of which likely fail the Constitutional test, since Trump had a right to speak his mind over the election results. But the indictment claims that he pursued illegal means to interfere with the election results.
George Washington University law professor Jonathan Turley said Smith issued “the first criminal indictment of alleged disinformation.” “If you take a red pen to all of the material presumptively protected by the First Amendment, you can reduce much of the indictment to haiku,” he said. “I felt that the Mar-a-Lago indictment was strong. This is the inverse.”
Turley also said on Fox News the indictment is “unfair at points,” noting that it “quotes Trump in his speech about encouraging people to go to Capitol Hill, but like the January 6th committee, it omits where he says, ‘you should go peacefully.’”
The indictment states that Trump “had a right, like every American, to speak publicly about the election and even to claim, falsely, that there had been outcome-determinative fraud during the election and that he had won” but then states he “also pursued unlawful means of discounting legitimate votes and subverting election results.” Daily Caller
All of which is a blatant misconstruing of the truth. Other legal experts have called the 45-page indictment a stretching of the statutes in order to attack Trump. The Special Prosecutor deliberately removed Trump’s admonishment about going “peacefully” to the Capitol on January 6, 2021.
Candidates Mike Pence and Chris Christie both claim that Trump violated his oath over Jan 6. Both of them are liars who are disloyal to anyone except themselves. They have an agenda and do not care about the actual laws involving free speech …unless it benefits their own plans. Pence was disloyal during the 2016 campaign… but he was a political help for Trump to get a particular section of the electorate. As it stands currently, that section is deeply divided and many think Pence is a traitor.
This saga is not complete. The left has worked hard to bury the leading candidate for President under mountains of legal issues that take up his mind and heart (and money). It will take a great deal of effort to prove that the prosecution is as evil as it appears. Is this election interference? Given that Donald J Trump is the leading candidate for office, it’s obviously so. But as the left pops its champagne corks and clinks their glasses in “victory” they may find themselves on the opposite side of that outcome.
