The woman at the center of a viral plane meltdown, where she announced to fellow passengers that “that mom in the back is not real,” has been identified as a marketing executive from Texas. Dallas resident Tiffany Gomas told police her rant stemmed from a dispute over wireless headphones.
After Gomas’ strange outburst, she was removed from the plane, causing hours of delays for other passengers, according to documents obtained by The Post. In the viral video, Gomas can be heard saying, “I’m taking shit, and there’s a reason why I’m taking shit,” as he paced up and down the aisle of the plane. However, the 38-year-old refused to voluntarily disembark the American Airlines flight and had to be removed by staff.
Before moving to the front of the plane, Gomas addressed his fellow passengers with, “You can sit on this plane and you can die with them or you can’t. I’m not going.” According to police, his rant began after a disagreement with his fellow travelers, whom he accused of stealing his AirPods.
The July 2 complaint says, “The woman then began to state that the plane was not safe and she did not want him to leave because she believed he would not make it to his destination.” Due to Gomas’ statements, the flight attendants decided that the plane needed to be checked.
As a result of Gomas’ objections, all other passengers on Flight 1009 from Fort Worth to Orlando had to disembark and go through security again. When law enforcement arrived, Gomas was found “distraught” and trying to get back on the plane. She declined to speak with Dallas-Fort Worth Department of Public Safety officers.
Finally, Gomas was escorted out of the secure area of the airport. However, this did not deter her from trying to re-enter the boarding area through TSA screening several times. She was eventually located on the sidewalk of the terminal, waiting for an Uber. The police issued her a ticket for criminal trespass, which she refused to sign. She did not provide any identification to the police and was not officially arrested or detained. Gomas, through a representative, declined to comment on the incident.
Despite the damage to his reputation, Gomas is unlikely to face serious legal repercussions. As Austin attorney Adam Loewy told The Post, “The viral video is the amazing part, but I doubt you’ll see a big prosecution for it.”
Public records reveal that Gomas lives in a $2 million home in the prestigious Lakewood neighborhood. She is a marketing executive who served as Vice President of Elevate Brand Marketing and was recognized as a 2017 “Rising Star” by an industry publication. Gomas was applauded by a co-worker for having a track record that rivals account managers with decades of experience. A graduate of Oklahoma State University, Gomas’ advice to those starting out in her industry is to “roll with the punches” and “work hard and play hard.”
Gomas has also gained quite a following on social media thanks to her attractive looks.
