Second Chance Movie Tribute: Kirstie Ally’s Lesser Known But Great Performances

2nd Chance Movies presents a tribute to actress Kirstie Ally.

Actress Kirstie Alley, 71, has died after a short bout with cancer. She is perhaps best known as Rebecca Howe in the 1980s American television sitcom Cheers, and for her roles in the Looks Who’s Talking films also starring John Travolta. 2nd Chance Movies has three additional suggestions that we think are his lesser-known acting efforts that showcase his talent.

# 1 Shoot to kill:

The first is the 1988 film Shoot to Kill starring Tom Berenger, Sydney Poiter, Kirstie Alley and Clancy Brown. Although her role in the film was not so much of a leading role, she does quite well. Here is the full movie.

#2 Madhouse:

The other film is the 1990 film Madhouse. This comedy starred John Laroquette, who is best remembered for his role as Dan Fielding on the 1980s sitcom Night Court. The two play off each other very well and Kirstie gives an almost Lucille Ball comedic performance.

# 3 Mini Series – North and South:

“North and South” is ABC’s 12-hour, $25 million production in 1985. This “great tapestry” depicts the lives and loves of two intertwined American families during the tumultuous 20 years leading up to the Civil war. The cast not only included Kirstie Ally as the black sheep of the family, but also Patrick Swayze, Genie Francis, Lesley – Anne Down, James Read, Hal Holbrook, Morgan Fairchild, David Carradine and even cameos from Elizabeth Taylor and Robert Mitchum.

Kirstie Ally’s dramatic pre-formation was more than worthy. Here are two of those scenes:

Seasons 1 and 2 are both available on Amazon Prime, check here.

So RIP peace Kirstie Alley so many hours of entertainment left for us all, we appreciate it.
