A series of shootings in eastern San Diego County left one person dead and three injured Friday night, police said.
A lone gunman is believed to have driven around a large area before randomly shooting at groups of people who were outside, Fox 5 reported.
Several witnesses called 911 after the first two shootings and gave a detailed description of the suspect and his car. Police searched the area for the gunman, who 90 minutes later was found parked in a street near the final attack.
Police arrested the driver, 22-year-old Jaime González, on suspicion of murder and attempted murder. Officers found a 9mm semi-automatic ghost handgun in the car.
“The officers ended up saturating the area and realized we had, in essence, an active shooter situation, someone who’s walking around and he shot himself,” San Diego Police Department Lt. Steve Shebloski told Fox 5. “We’re trying to dive in. to find out what the reason behind it is, what the motivation was. That’s going to take some time.”

Two 15-year-old Hispanic boys were hit in the first attack and are expected to survive. In the second shooting, which occurred in the Bay Terraces neighborhood, a 32-year-old Hispanic man died after receiving multiple gunshot wounds. A 34-year-old black man was also shot but is expected to survive his injuries.
The Hispanic man, whose identity has not yet been released, was shot multiple times throughout his body and was also stabbed, suffering catastrophic injuries, police said.
“We’re glad we had some very knowledgeable officers who were able to find this vehicle because we’re very confident that this suspect will continue to find random groups of people and shoot throughout the night,” Shebloski. said

Officers are looking for surveillance tapes that may have captured the shots.
