Robert F. Kennedy Jr. says Joe Biden’s bribery claim ‘must be investigated’

Democratic primary rival Robert Kennedy Jr. says it supports a probe from the $10 million bribe claim against President Biden and his son by a Ukrainian oligarch who ran the “notoriously corrupt” energy company Burisma.

“The issues that are emerging are troubling enough that we really need a real investigation into what happened.” Kennedy told Fox News Maria Bartiromo, host of the Sunday Morning Futures program.

“I mean, these revelations … where you have Burisma, which is this notoriously corrupt company, which apparently paid Hunter and his father $10 million, if that’s true, it’s really troubling.

“So I think … it needs to be investigated,” he said.

Kennedy tried to avoid having to consider the controversy, insisting that he wanted to “bring people together and some of the vitriol, the poison that has made politics so poisonous, so personal.”

He changed his tune after Bartiromo said the issue was about corruption.

FBI whistleblower file outlining $10 million bribery allegation against Biden and his son Hunter released Thursday by Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa). In it, Mykola Zlochevsky, owner of Burisma Holdings, claimed to the whistleblower that he was “coerced” into making the payment.

Kennedy also agreed with a claim that federal law enforcement authorities have become politicized following Bartiromo’s statement that the Justice Department went after Trump officials with Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act warrants.

“Yes,” Kennedy said. I mean, I think that’s something that every American should be concerned about, that our federal agencies, which were once above politics, have been weaponized as political instruments. And this, again, is another trend that is really damaging to our democracy.”

F.B.I Director Christopher Wray allowed members of the GOP-led House Oversight Committee to read the document last month after the bureau initially refused, prompting a brief push by panel Chairman James Comer (R-Ky.) to discredit Wray. The FBI then agreed to let lawmakers read the file in a secure room at the Capitol.

Last week, the White House tried to dismiss the bribery claim as a GOP smear campaign.

“Republicans in Congress, in their eagerness to go after President Biden, regardless of the truth, continue to push claims that have been debunked for years and that they themselves have warned to take ‘with a grain of salt’ because they could be ‘made up,'” said presidential spokesman Ian Sams.

“Trump’s Department of Justice, a Trump-appointed U.S. attorney, and a full impeachment trial of the former president, which focused on these issues, have been reviewed by the Trump Department of Justice,” Sams said.

“It’s clear that Republicans in Congress are bent on shameless and dishonest politics and refuse to let the truth get in the way. It’s past time for news organizations to hold them to basic levels of real accountability for their repeated and increasingly desperate efforts to mislead both the public and the press.
