A prominent Arkansas psychiatrist is being investigated for potentially holding back hundreds of people in a giant Medicaid scam, with video footage showing him roaming hospital hallways without spending time with patients.
Dr. Brian Hyatt, 50, is under investigation by state and federal authorities and faces lawsuits from at least 26 patients who say he held them against their will, sometimes for weeks , according to NBC News.
Some patients even received court orders to be released by sheriff’s deputies, with one caught on an officer’s body camera telling him, “Oh my God. You saved my life.”
“It was like I was in prison,” mother of three Shannon Williams, 52, told NBC News that she had been held for five days while denying that she was suicidal and asking to be released.
