In May 2020, Carriker posted a video on his Facebook page, showing a burning Philadelphia police car defaced with graffiti, including the acronym “ACAB” (All Cops Are Bastards).
Carriker had a criminal record, having been arrested in 2003 on charges of possession of an unlicensed weapon, carrying a firearm in public and drug possession. He pleaded guilty to the firearm charge and received three years of probation, along with paying more than $1,000 in costs. His attempt to establish a software development company, LDS Frameworks, appeared to be inactive as of 2019.
Law enforcement is investigating the shooting and conducting a thorough examination of the crime scene, which spans eight blocks. The goal is to identify witnesses, locate surveillance cameras and determine the reason for the devastating incident. The victims have been identified as Lashyd Merritt, 20, Dymir Stanton, 29, Ralph Moralis, 59, Daujan Brown, 15, and Joseph Wamah Jr., 31.
