PARANOID Russian politicians fear the US is training genetically modified attack mosquitoes to launch an assault on Moscow.
Kremlin MPs believe scientists are working on how to infect the insects with killer viruses which they claim will then be unleashed on the capital, infecting millions.
They have named the alleged project and created a unit to defend against the attack.
The details appeared on film of MP Irina Yarovaya, head of the Parliamentary Security Committee, questioning the officials.
She said, “Just a Pentagon project called Allied Insects.
“How do you assess these risks and threats?
“How are we prepared?
“We are waiting for proposals to guarantee our economic security.”
Yarovaya was mocked online as the images emerged.
One user wrote: “Two things are infinite: the Universe and Russian idiocy”.
Last week Kiev boasted that the “countdown has begun” for Russia afterwards Vladimir Putin faced the humiliating rebellion of the Wagner Group.
President Zelensky said on Twitter: “Everyone who chooses the path of evil destroys himself.
“For a long time, Russia used propaganda to mask its weakness and the stupidity of its government. And now there is so much chaos that no lie can hide it.”
