For more than a decade, speculation about Barack Obama’s sexuality has circulated in credible and sometimes not-so-credible circles. These rumors suggest that the former president, who is known to be rather effeminate, may prefer men. Adding to the rumors, a man named Larry Sinclair claims he was once romantically involved with Barack Obama. Sinclair spoke openly about her alleged relationship with the former president in a conversation with filmmaker Dinesh D’Souza.

However, there is now much more damning evidence that lends credence to these rumors and innuendos. Surprisingly, this time it comes from Obama’s own biographer. During an interview with David Garrow, the author who wrote a biography of Barack Obama’s early years called “Rising Star,” the biographer explains how he discovered Obama’s strange love letters to a former girlfriend in which he, uh… read it for yourself…

Tablet:

How did you get these three women, Obama’s college and law school sweethearts, to deliver Obama’s love letters to you, and what was the most surprising thing you found in them?

With Alex [McNear, Obama’s girlfriend at Occidental College], I think she wanted her role to be known. So when Alex showed me Barack’s letters, he redacted a paragraph in one of them and just said, “It’s about homosexuality.”

And at some point, right when Rising Star came out, Alex indirectly sold the original, sold those cards, and they ended up at Emory. So Emory issued a press release saying, “We received these rare letters from Barack Obama.” And no mention of that overly sensitive paragraph. None of the newspapers mentioned it. Emory didn’t mention it.

So I sent one of my oldest friends, Harvey Klehr; Harvey was the guy back in 1980 trying to figure out who touched the fingers. [Dr. King’s close advisor] Stanley Levison, how did the FBI find out that Stan had been…

A communist

Yes. So I emailed Harvey and said, “Go to the Emory archives.” He’s spent his whole life at Emory, but they don’t let him take pictures. So Harvey has to sit there with a pencil and copy the chart where Barack writes to Alex about how he repeatedly fantasizes about making love to men.

Don’t write this Garrow guy off as a partisan hack either. He’s actually one of the most nonpartisan and respected biographers in the business. The tablet the piece continues:

However, when it came out six years ago, Rising Star was mostly ignored; as a result, its most outrageous and perhaps revealing passages, such as Obama’s long letter to another girlfriend about his fantasies of having sex with men, are read today to people who are more familiar with the Obama mythos than with the historical record, such as partisan fanaticism. . But David Garrow is hardly a hack whose work can or should be dismissed on partisan grounds. He is one of the nation’s most credible and celebrated civil rights historians: the author of The FBI and Martin Luther King, Jr. and Bearing the Cross (which won the Pulitzer Prize for Biography) and one of three historian-consultants who animated the monumental PBS documentary Eyes on the Prize, as well as the author of a landmark history of human rights abortion, freedom and sexuality.

Interestingly, Barack’s proposed love letters to the women in his life lacked passion and seemed more “performative” than anything else. The tablet the piece explains:

Barack’s love letters to Alex, if they are love letters at all, are hard to read. Not only because they are so badly written, but because of the clear lack of human interest in the person to whom they are writing. The lyrics are completely performative. It could also have been a tree or some kind of theater backdrop. Perhaps all young people are guilty of this fault, but these examples seem quite glaring.

It’s pretty clear to me, and that’s me putting together little pieces with Alex and Sheila, but I’m 97 percent convinced that Barack wrote all these letters in his journal and then turned them into letters, or he wrote the letters and then copied them into the journal.

The first time, again, I can say, the first time I saw him in the White House in the Oval, he’s sitting in that usual chair behind the fireplace. I’m on the far right of this, the couch facing Lewinsky territory. And on the desk, the only thing on the desk is this big pile of all his journals over the years. And he’s arranged it this way on purpose: to show me that he has them, so he can tell me I can’t see them. He has this big sack, I want to call it a cloth sack or a canvas sack, at the bottom of which are the newspapers. And at the top is the typescript of my manuscript. So it brings them together.

The letters from Sheila. Will we ever see them? Not in my life or in yours. Certainly, these papers will not see the light of day during Barack’s lifetime. I wouldn’t be surprised if he burned them.

Because? What can no one see?

He wants people to believe his story. For me to come to the conclusion that my father’s dreams were historical fiction, oh God, that infuriated him.

Rumors about Barack Obama’s sexuality are often exasperated with sarcastic jabs at his wife Michelle, as you can see in this recent viral post that has been seen by more than 7 million people.

Is this proof that Obama was the first gay president of the United States? No, not definitely, anyway, but the circumstantial evidence is certainly piling up.
