New report exposes major flaws with “Automatic Voter Registration” | louder.news

-

A new report from journalist John Fund lays out how the push for automatic voter registration (AVR) will inevitably enable voter fraud.

Under the AVR, voters are automatically added to voter rolls when they contact state agencies, such as the DMV. Oregon adopted the first AVR in 2016, and now twenty-six states, plus DC, use this system. Only two of the states are red states (Alaska and West Virginia), and one is purple (Georgia).

Without knowing any specific problems with the AVR, it can already be concluded that it will further damage the integrity of elections just by those who support it. As the Fund documents in its report, the push for AVR increased after the 2012 presidential election, when it was advanced by more than three dozen left-wing advocacy groups that met in DC to strategize related to the elections. We only know about this meeting because it was leaked.

Of the group’s three main goals, two were to expand voting through AVR. Naturally, their priorities also included opposing voter ID and proof of citizenship requirements.

Among those on the left who have publicly called for the AVR are Fast and Furious star Thomas Perez, then head of the DOJ’s Civil Rights Division, who later became Labor Secretary and head of the DNC Eric Holder, among others. His public support led to an influx of money into the effort, including from the Soros-funded Tides Foundation, the Joyce Foundation, the Carnegie Corporation and more.

The left-wing think tank Brennan Center, which has been responsible for some of the left’s most radical electoral reforms, also supports AVR.

In making the case against AVR, Fund notes that the Pew Research Center has already found that 24 million voter registrations in the US are “no longer valid or significantly inaccurate,” a sum that equates to one in eight voter registrations. In addition, 2.8 million are registered in more than one state and another 1.8 million are dead. As Fund argues; “Think about what happens when a state has both automatic registration and same-day registration. Same-day registration allows people to register and vote on Election Day. Together, they create the perfect storm for registration and voter fraud. People could go to multiple polling locations, register and vote undetected. People can vote multiple times because they are registered multiple times. Bad actors can find ineligible or duplicate voters and vote their ballots “.

AVR will further complicate matters by registering people in contact with government offices. By design, this will result in the registration of criminals and non-citizens, as well as lead to duplicate registrations. It’s no secret that states don’t clean up their censuses:

Under federal law, the National Voter Registration Act of 1993 and the Help America Vote Act of 2002 require states to maintain accurate voter rolls. However, some state politicians ignore this law. In 2017, Democratic Governor Terry McAuliffe of Virginia vetoed a measure that would have required investigations into elections in which ballots outnumber eligible voters. Even more suspiciously, when then-GOP Gov. Rick Scott tried to obey those laws and update Florida’s records, including removing 51,308 dead voters, Obama’s Justice Department sued to stop him. A major scandal hit Pennsylvania in 2017, after it was revealed that thousands of foreign nationals were registered to vote for two decades while obtaining driver’s licenses or other forms of state identification.

In Pennsylvania, the State Department identified more than 100,000 registered voters who may not have U.S. citizenship, many of whom were registered to vote even after checking “No” in a citizenship box.
