Kellie Pickler’s husband, Kyle Jacobs, dies at 49

Kyle Jacobs, the husband of country music artist Kellie Pickler, has died in what authorities say appears to be a suicide.

A statement from the Nashville Metropolitan Police Department noted that the 49-year-old man appeared to have fatally shot himself.

“The Nashville Department of Emergency Communications received a 911 call at 1:21 p.m. Friday from a home on Sneed Road in the police department’s west precinct,” the statement said, according to Billboard. “Nashville Fire Department officers and personnel responded and located resident Kyle Jacobs, 49, deceased from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound in an upstairs bedroom/office. His death is being investigated investigating as an apparent suicide,” the statement begins.

“Mr. Jacobs’ wife, Kellie Pickler, reported that she woke up shortly before, did not see her husband and began looking for him. After she and her personal assistant were unable to open the bedroom door /office upstairs, the assistant called 911,” the statement said.

According to Variety , Jacobs co-wrote country music legend Garth Brooks’ “More Than a Memory” and country superstar Tim McGraw’s “Still.”

Pickler rose to fame when she competed on the popular singing competition television show “American Idol.”

The couple got married in 2011.

“The Academy is deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Kyle Jacobs, a talented Nashville songwriter and producer and the husband of Kellie Pickler,” the County Music Academy tweeted. “In 2014 Jacobs won an ACM Award as a producer on Lee Brice’s ‘I Drive Your Truck.’ Please join us in sending condolences, love and healing.”
