U.S. Rep. Jim Jordan recounted President Biden's strange 2022 speech in Philadelphia in front of Independence Hall to claim that it epitomizes the administration's “mindset” against its perceived enemies right here in the United States.
The Ohio Republican and chairman of the House Judiciary Committee discussed with Fox News host Sean Hannity the findings in a new report released by his panel Monday that exposed the FBI's alleged plan to monitor the Catholics outside their office in Richmond, Virginia.
“FOX News learned Monday before the House Government Armaments Committee that the FBI interviewed both a priest and a choir director despite documents showing 'no legitimate basis' for the memo that would insert the feds into the churches,” Fox News noted.
According to Jordan, the “attack on pro-life Catholics” was, however, broader than FBI officials let on after insisting the problem was only in Richmond.
“Well, first, we were told it was just one field office, the Richmond field office. Then we learned that oh, no, no, it was bigger than that. It was multiple field offices involved in this attack against pro-life Catholics. And now, as you pointed out, Sean, we learn that the FBI was talking to a priest and a choir director,” Jordan said.
“Now, again, remember the larger context, this is the same FBI that spied on President Trump's campaign. This is the same FBI that censored Americans. This is the same FBI, on this particular issue , who went to the home of Mark Houck, a pro-life Catholic, arrested him at his home in front of his wife and seven children,” he continued, referring to the FBI's raid on professionals . – activist Mark Houck's home in Kintnersville, Pennsylvania
Jordan told the “Hannity” host that when the federal case goes to court, “Mark Houck wins.”
“Which is, that's how ridiculous this whole thing is. So that's what our report is about,” he said, explaining how the bureau unleashed its full force on Houck even though he had offered to turn himself in. .
“The FBI was not going head-to-head with us,” the lawmaker said.
“That's not how you're supposed to operate in this great country,” Jordan said before recalling Biden's famous speech against a background lit in dark red.
“So you cited documents that you had, that you cited show that there was no legitimate basis for the memorandum to insert federal law enforcement into Catholic houses of worship. So why did they do that?” Hannity asked.
“Remember when Joe Biden stood in front of Independence Hall and talked about how half the country is fascist?” Jordan asked in response. “It's this whole mentality. If you're pro-life, if you're a traditional Catholic, you're somehow radical, you're extremist in some way.”
“This is part of the Department of Justice saying, if you're a mom and dad who goes to a school board meeting, you're also an extremist … that's what's so scary,” he told Hannity.
Jordan noted that it is precisely the allegations against the FBI and Biden's characterization of half the nation as “fascists” that have made Republicans reluctant to fund the agency's new headquarters.
“That's why we don't want to give them more money for a new headquarters, and that's why we formed this commission to look at everything they've done in this area and, of course, in the area of censorship,” he to conclude.
