“It's time to end this madness”

Even Democrats are crying foul now that New York Governor Kathy Hochul is quietly handing out taxpayer dollars to illegal alien criminals.

“The endless handouts around the world are a slap in the face to every citizen who has contributed and sacrificed for this country,” said New York City Councilman Robert Holden, a Democrat. New York Post this weekend. “It's time to end this madness.”

But how is this happening? The Post notes that in May, the state's Office of Temporary and Disability Assistance (OTDA) amended its “Safety Net Assistance” (SNA) program to make criminal illegal aliens eligible .

“Effective immediately, OTDA recognizes non-citizens in any of the following categories as PRUCOL for purposes of eligibility for the SNA. Otherwise, people presenting immigration documentation
showing that any of the following categories can receive SNA,” says an under-the-radar OTDA ad.

PRUCOL is the abbreviation of permanent residence under the color of law, and according to the New York government“it was created by the courts and is used to obtain public benefits, including Medicaid.”

The only potential good news is that the OTDA has stated that only 10 percent of the state's current criminal illegal alien population is eligible.

ODTA spokesman Anthony Farmer said the SNA payments represent only a “small portion” of the $4.3 billion the governor has earmarked to solve the illegal alien crime crisis.

“At the request of New York City, OTDA made a technical update to allow a small percentage of migrants to receive some additional support in compliance with state and federal law,” he added.

That said, even 10 percent is a lot of people.

“With more than 173,000 migrants arriving in the Big Apple since spring 2022, if just 10 percent of migrants here are eligible for SNA payments, the number of recipients could exceed 17,000 in New York alone,” the Post notes .

That's outrageous, the Post notes, because SNA is a state program designed to help needy Americans “who don't qualify for conventional public assistance, including single adults, childless couples and families of people who they abuse alcohol and drugs.”

“Recipients typically receive monthly checks totaling hundreds of dollars and are only supposed to use the money to help pay rent and utility costs or buy clothing or other necessities,” according to the Post.

The public, of course, is just as mad about it as Democrats like Holden:

Republicans are also upset.

It's “horrible that Gov. Hochul found another way to attract migrants” to New York while “putting the squeeze” on tax-burdened and struggling families, said Rep. Nicole Malliotakis.

“There are people from all over the world coming to New York to take advantage of all these left-wing programs that the governor and the mayor are implementing, while at the same time they're kicking the taxpayers,” he added.

Hochul is not the only one to do the “hit”. New York City Mayor Eric Adams is also to blame. According to the Post, he recently announced a program to provide criminal illegal aliens with prepaid credit cards.

“The $53 million pilot program, led by New Jersey firm Mobility Capital Finance, will provide asylum seekers arriving at the Roosevelt Hotel with city cash to help them buy food,” the Post reported earlier this month.

“It will begin with a group of 500 migrant families in short-term hotel stays and replace the current food service provided there,” the Post report continued.

Word of this program drew the ire of rapper 50 Cent:
