Caring for illegal aliens currently in the United States could cost American taxpayers as much as $451 billion a year, an interim report Monday by House Republican staff concluded.
Originally obtained by the New York Post, the 49-page report titled “The Historic Dollar Costs of DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas’ Open Border Policies” was released the same day the House voted to send a resolution to dismiss the security officer of the same name on the National Security Committee.
Mayorkas has been among the top targets of Republicans in the Biden administration due in large part to his presidency over an unprecedented increase in illegal border crossings. US Customs and Border Protection has reported more than 7 million migrant encounters at the Southwest land border alone since President Joe Biden took office. The report sought to quantify the adverse impact of his mandate on American taxpayers.
