After an “evening turned for the worse,” a Georgia lawmaker found herself passed out on the sidewalk before lashing out at doctors who are now suing her employer alleging she was drugged.

On September 29, then-Vice Chairwoman of the Clayton County Board of Commissioners, Felicia Franklin, was discovered on the sidewalk outside 404 Sports Bar and Grill in Morrow, Georgia. As seen in the body camera footage, the public officer’s unresponsive nature prompted police to call for emergency medical services to assess his condition.
Answering, “I don’t know what they gave me,” Franklin was loaded into the ambulance where she could be seen and heard lashing out at medical professionals who were trying to determine her condition and render aid.
“Get the crap out of my face,” she was heard shouting and when told she was going to jail amid her violent outburst, “I don’t care, get it out of my face.”
Following the incident, Morrow Police Sgt. Scott Stewart told Fox 5, “We found no evidence to show that she was in fact high on GHB,” despite his own statement on Facebook after the incident.
“Medical professionals believe I was drugged with a GHB pill, better known as the ‘date rape pill,’ and this incident has shaken me to my core,” Franklin wrote on social media, adding: “I believe it is crucial to use this moment as a catalyst for change. I will work closely with the authorities to ensure justice is served and also advocate for improved security measures at events like these.”
According to law enforcement, a review of bar footage and receipts showed the commissioner had consumed three “This is a home run” drinks containing Grand Marnier and Hennessy, as well as a glass of wine and part of someone else’s beer. Toxicology also marked cannabis in his system at the time of the incident.
“She refused a blood test, but she did take a urinalysis and it tested positive for cannabinoids, also known as cannabis,” Stewart explained. She denied even listing the drinks, telling police during video interviews, “I didn’t have five drinks … I had five drinks? I don’t remember having five drinks.”
Despite this, Franklin he said to the Daily Mail that she was filing a lawsuit against the county after she was fired as vice president, claiming she had been drugged the night of the incident.
The Mail reported that her lawsuit described how her “evening took a turn for the worse” and that officers found her “crying and clearly in a vulnerable position”. Since then, she has repeatedly claimed that she suffered a “traumatic and unfortunate incident” only because she claimed to have been “drugged with a ‘date rape’ drug.”
On Oct. 23, Clayton County Board of Commissioners Chairman Jeff Turner said of the vote to remove Franklin as vice chairman: “The video spoke for itself. What else can we say?”
“We represent the citizens of Clayton County and we need to make sure we represent ourselves in a way that makes our citizens proud of us,” he added.
Investigators detailed that they saw no evidence that their drinks had been tampered with, and it was not reported what Franklin is seeking to gain from the lawsuit. However, he announced that he was running to replace Turner as board president in the upcoming election.
