Florida Surgeon General Dr. Joseph A. Ladapo, calls for mass civil disobedience if public health “experts” try again to impose mask mandates, despite non-pharmaceutical interventions (NPIs) having failed spectacularly to stop the spread of Covid- 19 in the United States and around the world.
Specifically, Florida’s health chief has urged the public to oppose the “terrible policies” surrounding mask mandates and advised Americans not to comply with the renewed mask requirements.
“What do you call re-imposing mask policies that have been proven ineffective or reinstating lockdowns that are known to cause harm?” Ladapo asked on Twitter/X. “You don’t call it common sense. These terrible policies only work with your cooperation. How about you refuse to participate . . .”

This Ladapo guide comes at a time when educational institutions, healthcare facilities and commercial businesses across the country are reinstating mask requirements. This renewed call for mask mandates is a reaction to the alarmism of the mainstream media and some scientific experts about an alleged increase in sub-variant cases of Covid.
Earlier this week, Atlanta’s Morris Brown College revealed plans to reimpose a mask requirement, despite having no known cases of Covid on campus. Similarly, California-based movie studio Lionsgate initially announced it would reinstate mask mandates for specific offices in Santa Monica. After receiving criticism, Lionsgate reversed the decision, claiming they had managed to control the alleged spread of Covid.
Corporate media outlets have also championed a return to mask mandates this week. CNN published an article last Wednesday suggesting, “It may be time to ditch the Covid masks, some experts say.” A CBS News medical contributor advised Friday that “people over 65 and immunocompromised people should strongly consider masking during flu, RSV and COVID season while in public indoor spaces. And for to everyone else, it all depends on what their risk tolerance is.”
Florida’s surgeon general has been a longtime critic of mask mandates. In March 2022, Ladapo stated that the justifications given to defend mask mandates are “a lie”. “It must stop and people must not believe it,” he warned.
Dr. Scott Gottlieb, the former FDA chief who quickly stepped down from office to become a Pfizer board member, appeared on CBS’ “Face the Nation” in January 2022 and denied the myth of the mask.
“Cloth masks aren’t going to provide much protection, that’s the bottom line,” he said. “This is an airborne disease. We understand that now. And a cloth mask won’t protect you from an airborne virus. It might protect better through droplet transmission, something like the flu, but not this coronavirus.”
Dr. Anthony Fauci had once shared an assessment as candid as Gottlieb’s about the effectiveness of masks in a February 2020 email to an HHS official.
“Masks are really for infected people to prevent them from spreading the infection to people who are not infected rather than to protect uninfected people from getting the infection,” he wrote in the email.
“The typical mask you buy at the drugstore is not really effective at keeping out the virus, which is small enough to get through the material,” he said. “However, it might provide a slight benefit in avoiding dirty droplets if someone coughs or sneezes.”

Despite more than 99% mask compliance in Asian countries such as South Korea, there was still an explosion of infections. In the United States, 97% of Americans over the age of 16 have been shown to have been infected or vaccinated against Covid-19, according to the latest research published by the CDC. Of this group, an estimated three out of four Americans had been “infected” with Covid-19.
Masks do not stop the spread of airborne viruses such as Covid-19. This is a known fact, not speculation.
Dr. Ladapo has also opposed vaccine mandates. He worked with Governor Ron DeSantis to position Florida as the first state to advise against Covid vaccines for healthy minors. That recommendation followed the state’s release of a study suggesting the vaccine could pose a greater health risk to young men.
“In Florida alone, there was a 1,700% increase in VAERS reports following the release of the COVID-19 vaccine, compared to a 400% increase in overall vaccine administration during the same period of time,” Florida reported and provided a chart.
“Reports of life-threatening conditions increased by more than 4,400%,” the alert continued. “This is a new increase and was not seen during the 2009 H1N1 flu vaccination campaign. There is a need for additional unbiased research to better understand the short- and long-term effects of COVID-19 vaccines.”
