The incident unfolded at approximately 6:30 pm when an officer spotted a vehicle matching the description of a car that had been used in a robbery in Clermont, Florida.
JSO Chief Alan Parker explained that Paquin was found approaching the vehicle while walking a dog. When questioned, Paquin claimed ownership of the car.
However, when the officer told Paquin to sit down, the suspect ignored the order, stayed on the phone and attempted to drive past the officer to get to the vehicle.
Chief Parker further explained that the officer attempted to intervene, but Paquin made a sudden move, walking in front of the vehicle and brandishing a firearm. “It wasn't as simple as turning around with a gun in hand,” Jacksonville Sheriff TK Waters said. “It was very, very close.”
In response to the imminent threat, the officer pointed the gun at Paquin, causing him to drop the firearm.
Additional assistance arrived and the Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department quickly provided medical aid, ensuring Paquin was quickly transported to the hospital.
Following the surgical procedures, Paquin's condition was reported as stable as of Tuesday night.
