Ukrainian President Volodomyr Zelenskyy has rejected Donald Trump’s claim that, if re-elected in 2024, he could end the war between Ukraine and Russia “within 24 hours” and invited the former president to visit his country.
In an appearance a NBC News’ “Meet the Press.” that aired on Sunday, Zelenskyy said that Trump is “very welcome” in Ukraine.
“Former President Trump said this [in] about 24 hours, that he can handle it and end the war,” Zelenskyy said. “For me, what can I say? So he is also very welcome. President Biden was here, and he, I think he understood some details that you can only understand being here. So I invite President Trump.”

Zelenskyy said he would not need 24 hours to explain to Trump why he “cannot bring peace.”
“If he can come here, I will need 24 minutes, yes, 24 minutes, no more,” he said. “Yes. No more: 24 minutes to explain [to] President Trump who cannot manage this war” in 24 hours. “He cannot bring peace through guilt [Russian President Vladimir] To put.”
“If he’s not trying, and if he’s not willing to give up our territory for this terrible man, for Putin, if you’re not willing to give it, if you’re not willing to give our independence, he can’t handle it.” . Zelensky stated.
Asked by host Kristen Welker if he thought Trump would back Ukraine in its war against Russia, the former comedian replied, “I really don’t know.”
“I hope it doesn’t just depend on the president institutionally,” he said. “I think it depends on the opinion of Americans, on your society. I think that’s the most important thing.”
“I think it’s important in the US and the EU, the attitude of ordinary people,” he continued. “It’s their support. It’s their money. It’s up to them.”
“I know they support Ukraine, they love us,” Zelenskyy said. “And really, they understand our difficult, difficult war against Russia.”
Speaking to Welker on “Meet the Press” in September, Trump said, “I’m going to get this war stopped very, very quickly.”
He said he had gotten along “very well” with Putin and that “I would take him into a room, I would get Zelenskyy into a room and we would make a deal.”

Asked if he has had any contact with Trump since leaving office, Zelenskyy said: “No. That’s why he’s very welcome.”
AX, many felt that Zelenskyy should not be so quick to reject Trump’s ability to end the war.
“Sure he can, stop funding him and you’ll be out,” one user wrote.
“Trump will have a Putin deal before he sees Zelensky,” predicted another. “Trump will only need 5 minutes with Zelensky”.
“I don’t think that’s how the conversation would go,” said a third.
Sure it can, stop funding it and you’ll be gone.

Trump will have a deal from Putin before seeing Zelensky. Trump will only need 5 minutes with Zelensky.

Others saw Zelenskyy’s statement as evidence that he is not interested in ending the war.
“Sounds more like he’s afraid Trump will bring peace,” one user noted.
It seems to me more like he fears that Trump will bring peace.
