WV Democrat Joe Manchin has been described as a “moderate Democrat” or a “centrist.” West Virginia is primarily a red state. But people are asking whether Manchin’s decision might be harboring a potential third party run for President. His answer to that is couched in some of terms he used in his press release but is vague enough to be noncommittal. But even the idea leaves many Democrats panicky, since their hold on the Senate is fragile.
To the West Virginians who have put their trust in me and fought side by side to make our state better – it has been an honor of my life to serve you. Thank you. My statement on my political future: pic.twitter.com/dz8JuXAyTL

Is this a third party run?
He stated he would see if there was momentum to create a movement “to mobilize the middle and bring Americans together.” The problem with that lovely ideological statement is that there are factions who hate the “other side.” They have no desire to work together with anyone who disagrees with them. They also lie.
Is America headed for a recession?
Sen Manchin learned the hard way when he voted for Biden’s Inflation Reduction Act that Democrats lie to get their way and could care less about the American people.
Here are some excerpts for his video statement:
“Every incentive in Washington is designed to make our politics extreme. The growing divide between Democrats and Republicans is paralyzing Congress and worsening our nation’s problems. The majority of Americans are just plain worn out.
“Our economy is not working for many Americans from the rising cost of food and fuel and everything in between. We have a border crisis with illegal drugs entering our country and killing Americans every day. Our national debt is out of control and Americans don’t feel safe in their own communities.
“We are providing critical aid to two of our allies fighting wars for their survival, and we must prevent being pulled into a major war ourselves. These are not Republican or Democratic challenges. They are American challenges. They affect every one of us, and we need to face them together.
“I know our country isn’t as divided as Washington wants us to believe. We share common values of family, freedom, democracy, dignity and a belief that together we can overcome any challenge. We need to take back America and not let this divisive hatred further pull us apart.
“Public service has and continues to drive me every day. That is the vow that I made to my father 40 years ago, and I intend to keep that vow until my dying day.
“May God Bless America, the great state of West Virginia and each and every one of you.” Senator Joe Manchin
He is correct about one thing: Americans are exhausted by the rancor and nastiness in politics. We are exhausted and sick of the Republicans who do nothing, and by the Democrats who continually shove things we hate down our throats. We are keenly aware that we cannot be “unequally yoked” with people who hate us and are vocal about wanting us dead. We hope he gets his wish that there can be a consensus somewhere, but personally I don’t see it happening.
We wish Sen Joe Manchin the best for the next chapter in his life as he leaves the Swamp behind. Theoretically.
