WaPo reports Secret Service denied Trump security requests for 2 years; Mayorkas claimed otherwise

-

The Secret Service had denied former President Donald J. Trump's requests for extra security for two years before a failed assassination attempt last weekend.

In a bombshell revelation, the Washington Post reported that the USSS “repeatedly denied requests for additional resources and personnel sought by Donald Trump's security detail in the two years” leading up to the Butler, PA rally where the GOP candidate was beaten by a bullet, narrowly avoiding death.

The denied requests were for magnetometers and additional agents to screen attendees at large public gatherings and sporting events attended by Trump, as well as more snipers and “specialist teams” for the outdoor event he is attending Trump appeared, the newspaper reported, citing anonymous sources.

The report contradicts Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas, who during a recent appearance on CNN said a Republican lawmaker's X post accusing him of denying additional protection to Trump was “baseless and irresponsible,” a comment that now seems like a big lie.

According to the WaPo, “the requests, which were previously unreported, were sometimes denied by senior agency officials, who cited a variety of reasons, including a lack of resources at an agency that has long struggled with staff shortages.”

The report doesn't bode well for the Secret Service, which is under fire for multiple failures leading up to the Trump rally, not the least of which was allowing a gunman to set up in a rooftop with a clear view of the stage. about 150 meters from the former president. Fortunately, the shot missed.

“The claim that a member of the former president's security team requested additional security resources that were rejected by the US Secret Service or the Department of Homeland Security is absolutely false,” the Secret Service spokesman said. Anthony Guglielmi after the failed assassination attempt.

But now Guglielmi is singing a different tune, now saying that “the agency had learned new information indicating that agency headquarters may have denied some requests for additional security from Trump's details and was reviewing the documentation to understand better specific interactions,” he explains. the Washington Post.

“The Secret Service has a vast, challenging and complex mission,” Guglielmi said in a statement, according to the outlet. “Every day we work in a dynamic threat environment to ensure our protégés are safe and protected during various events, travel and other challenging environments. We execute a comprehensive and layered strategy to balance staff, technology and specialized operational needs “.

Denying Trump additional Secret Service protection would be consistent with the pettiness of the Biden regime, which until last week had also refused to protect independent presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. despite his family's history of political assassinations.

The Washington Post bombshell comes amid reports that Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle may soon resign and as congressional Republicans demand answers about the incomprehensible failures that nearly led to Trump's death.
