Sometimes it’s the little things in your job that drive you to the brink of insanity. And then one day you just hit your breaking point and you snap.

For one United Airlines pilot, that’s exactly what happened when he was dealing with a parking barrier at Denver International Airport, a barrier that’s known for causing trouble and, wouldn’t you know it, refused to open once more Kenneth Jones, a 63-year-old pilot with just a few years until retirement, took things a little too far. He took an ax from his vehicle and went into town through that barrier, venting all his frustration.

Well, unsurprisingly, Jones is now facing a suspension for his out-of-control behavior.

Video footage from the airport shows the uniformed pilot walking towards the staff parking barrier carrying an ax believed to be in his vehicle.

As motorists gape, he vigorously swings the ax at the door 23 times until it finally lifts off the hinge, leaving the exit open.

Adams County Sheriff’s deputies say he told them he “just reached his breaking point” and was “trying to get out of trouble for everybody.”

Airport officials admitted to CBS News Colorado that there is a problem with delays at the gate because many patrons do not have the correct permit.

Jones told police he launched his attack on August 2 after seeing six cars lined up at each of the three exit gates as he tried to leave.

It seems that Jones retired several years earlier than planned.

And maybe that’s a good thing, because he clearly seemed pretty fed up with his job.

Also, side note: who the hell only carries an ax in their vehicle? Unless you’re a lumberjack, this is a pretty odd tool to casually carry around…
