Trump’s trial in Georgia to be streamed on YouTube

-

When former President Trump goes on trial in Georgia, it looks like the world will be able to follow him on YouTube. The judge presiding over the case decided Thursday that the proceedings will be streamed live on the court’s YouTube channel, reports WSB-TV. Other media outlets will also be allowed to have cameras in the courtroom, Fulton County Superior Court Judge Scott McAfee said for Atlanta News First. The judge’s ruling came amid a series of other events on Thursday, the most prominent of which was Trump pleads not guilty on charges that he and his co-defendants illegally tried to nullify the results of the state’s 2020 election.

The former president’s legal team also asked the judge to sever Trump’s case from some of the other defendants in the case, according to the AP. At least some of the other 18 people charged have requested a speedy trial — perhaps as early as October — and Trump’s legal team says it would be impossible to prepare for a trial that quickly. Whether the 19 will be tried together remains a big question in the case, along with whether the proceedings could be moved from state court to federal court. (Trump’s argument on the latter issue may have complications.)
