Trump will return to the scene of the crime, honor the Comperatore with a rally [VIDEOS]

Former President Donald J. Trump announced Friday that he will return to Butler, Pennsylvania, to hold a rally honoring those killed or injured in his July 13 rally in the same city. During the shooting, Thomas Matthew Crooks opened fire on the crowd, hitting Trump in the ear, wounding two others and killing former fire chief Corey Comperatore, who heroically shielded his family from the gunfire.

“I'll be back in Butler, PA for a big, beautiful rally, honoring the souls of our beloved firefighter hero, Corey, and those brave patriots who were wounded two weeks ago. What a day it will be – Fight, Fight, Fight ! Stay tuned for details,” Trump wrote. The crooks started shooting within minutes of Trump taking the stage.

After the incident and the attempt on Trump's life, the US Secret Service had urged the Trump campaign to stop holding outdoor rallies, where many of Trump's previous successful rallies had been held. trump Campaign officials commented at the time: “Obviously with an indoor venue, you have capacity. Despite this, Trump held rallies again on Saturday in Michigan, marking the first time since the assassination attempt that such an event was held.

Speaking at the rally, Trump took aim at those who call him a “threat to democracy,” saying, “I took a bullet for democracy last week.” Trump spoke to a raucous crowd at Van Andel Arena in Grand Rapids.

“They keep saying 'It's a threat to democracy'… What the hell did I do to democracy?”

“Last week I took a bullet for democracy.”
