Trump continues to make historic gains in primary polls

Incredibly, President Donald Trump continues to make unprecedented gains in the Republican primary race, as the critical Iowa caucuses are just a few weeks away.

The newest data from Morning Consult this week highlighted the president’s winning position in the primary polls, gaining yet another two points since their previous poll (Nov. 7). Their latest information, polling GOP primary voters nationwide, demonstrated a 50-point lead for Trump.

The runner-up, Gov. Ron DeSantis, R-Fla., earned 14 percent support. Former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley trailed at nine percent of support, and businessman Vivek Ramaswamy earned six percent.

No other Republican candidate managed to net more than two percent of support.

As it stands now, former Vice President Mike Pence and South Carolina Tim Scott., R-S.C., have dropped out of the Republican presidential primary race.

It is unclear how long Gov. DeSantis will continue to run his campaign as his polling numbers keep sinking in the face of the Iowa caucuses. In the Hawkeye State, Trump has captured 45.6 percent of support against the Florida governor’s 17.1 percent, via FiveThirtyEight’s average.

In Gov. DeSantis’s home state of Florida, state voters have overwhelmingly embraced Trump’s reelection bid, throwing 60 percent of their support behind the 45th president, according to data from the University of Northern Florida’s Public Opinion Research Lab.

With DeSantis fading fast from the primary race, it seems inevitable that Trump will cruise to a Republican primary victory in 2024. The question at that point will be whether his campaign has the momentum to topple Joe Biden once again at the ballot box.

A recent mainstream poll from The New York Times has strongly indicated that Trump has enough momentum, revealing that the 45th president is leading in five out of six key swing states ahead of the 2024 general election. Their data postulates that Trump could easily net more than 300 electoral votes next November to recapture the White House.
