The tennis pro’s interview was interrupted when the young player collapsed on the court

A medical emergency during a tennis star’s press conference was caught on video as a young player collapsed on the court.

A teenager identified as Jasmine has Australian tennis great Alicia Molik to thank for quickly coming to her aid after she collapsed and became unresponsive at Adelaide’s Memorial Drive Tennis Club.

“The former world No. 8 and two-time Grand Slam doubles champion was being introduced as the new tournament director at the Adelaide International when the incident unfolded on Center Court,” 7NEWS Adelaide reported.

“Molik had been listening to a reporter’s question when a loud noise prompted her and the others to turn around,” the outlet explained. “The 42-year-old swung into action when he realized one of the young players on hand for the announcement was now unresponsive on the ground.”

As the terrifying scene unfolded, Molik was seen administering first aid, rolling the young woman onto her side and helping her breathe. He then stayed by her side until paramedics arrived on the scene.

The Adelaide Advertiser reported that the teenager had been playing on the court for two hours before he collapsed.

He was reportedly recovering in hospital.

Molik, meanwhile, had been talking about giving back to the South Australian tennis community.

“Tennis is part of my everyday DNA and to have the opportunity to be a part of a world-class tennis event in the city where I grew up is truly something special,” he said in a statement. “This is an opportunity for me. to give back to the community that supported me throughout my career on the court and still today.”
