After groups like BLM constantly criticize and call for an end to policing, it makes it harder for cops to do their jobs. An entire police team in Minnesota has basically said, “We’re done.”

The mayor and city council of the small town of Goodhue, Minnesota, were completely shocked when their entire police team walked off the job. These officers are said to have quit due to the push to defund the police and the general bad opinion people have of officers following the death of George Floyd.

The resignations have left city officials wondering how to ensure public safety. AllSides News reports that the police chief and one constable will remain on the force until August 23.

“I think we’re all kind of blindsided by this, but we’re resilient and we’re going to move forward,” Goodhue Mayor Ellen Anderson Buck told Fox 9.

Josh Smith, the outgoing police chief, reported that he has no applicants to replace the outgoing officers. On July 26, Smith told the town hall: “I’ve called all the police officers around [to see if new applicants are available] … There is no one who enters the game”.

Smith added: “If you want to keep the PD … something has to change dramatically and dramatically, and it has to happen now.”

It is very scary to think that only two people are responsible for protecting an entire city.

Although the police officers in this country are not flawless, many people do not fully realize the positive impact they make. If these far-left groups continue to push such overwhelmingly negative views about officers, Goodhue could be one of many cities to end up without a police force.
