Santos' ouster became a sideshow outside the vacant office, as elsewhere the now-former congressman teased retaliation.
On Friday, George Santos was removed from the US House of Representatives, where he had served as a Republican lawmaker from New York's 3rd district for less than a year. Wasting no time after the 311-114 vote, a Capitol Hill staffer was seen trying to mark the ousted freshman's final cry of “Damn this place” as the penultimate statement with an unceremonious lock change .

Meanwhile, others were seen gathering outside the newly vacated office taking selfies with the sign that appeared to celebrate the legislature overriding the will of New York voters, prompting the need for New York Gov. , Kathy Hochul (D) scheduled a special election.
At one point, a group of three could be seen smiling next to the Santos sign after an elderly gentleman had smiled on his own at the site. Whether nice or sarcastic, someone else had placed a bouquet of flowers outside the office that was later removed.

More revelers were keen to take advantage of the unique photo opportunity to mark the day Santos became the first member of the House to be expelled without conviction for federal crimes he was alleged to have committed, or for supporting the Confederacy during the Civil War? , his window slammed shut as quickly as the locks had been changed.
The parade of revelers was short-lived when a Capitol Hill staffer arrived to remove the sign, leaving the sign blank in the interim.

Although Santos' time in the House appeared to be over, the now-former lawmaker wasn't done with Congress as he brought X overnight with promises to file multiple ethics complaints against his former colleagues. Empire State Republican leagues, starting with Rep. Nicole Malliotakis. .
“On Monday I will be filing an official complaint with the Office of Congressional Ethics against @NMalliotakis regarding his questionable stock trading since joining the Ways and Means committee in this Congress,” he wrote. “Before joining the committee, the congresswoman did not have an active commercial habit or a large-volume participation. The question is, what set of information are you trading with?”

Santos also targeted Rep. Mike Lawler “for questionable campaign finance violations” and Rep. Nick LaLota, who he alleged may have “stolen public funds from New York taxpayers” by going to school to get the his doctorate in jurisprudence while working at the Board of Elections.
As with those celebrating the ousted lawmaker's departure, social media users celebrated his potential to figuratively burn the place out of the gate, as the New York state lawmaker suggested Ben Geller: “Everyone will spill their tea. Sign up!”
