Rumors abound about President Joe Biden's decision to drop out of the race, but one man is trying to set the record straight.
Senator Chris Coons (D-DE) joined PBS News Hour's Geoff Bennett to respond to Biden's decision to drop out of the race based on love of country.
I will see:
President Biden's exit from the presidential race is one of the “most selfless acts” by a high-ranking elected official in American history. @ChrisCoons he says @GeoffRBennett.
“Because he loves our nation more than his own personal ambition, he was willing to stand by,” he said. pic.twitter.com/TEoKeiiDoA

“I think what's really important here is that we take a moment and reflect on the incredible record of Joe Biden. One of the greatest presidents in my lifetime, maybe our entire history,” Coons said. “He listened to and took seriously the input of a wide range of people, from senators and governors and mayors. But also average people, friends, neighbors, people who worked for him, people he had known for a long time. And weighed his gun instinct, which is to stand up and fight – he is a person of heart and determination – and the input he received from pollsters, from the average person, from elected officials, suggesting that the path to presidency, to re-election, it was increasingly narrow.”
“Joe Biden is clear-eyed about the threat to democracy that Donald Trump poses. And so, ultimately, because he loves our nation more than his personal ambition, he was willing to stand by. I think he was one of the most meaningful and selfless acts of high elected office that I have ever seen in the history of the United States,” the senator said.
But Chris Cillizza was echoed most average Americans when he gave his own view of Biden's decision.
“But again, he was *not* willing to step aside. Pelosi, Obama, Schumer and Jeffries had to push him,” she wrote to X. “As if we were all there. We saw what happened . I don't understand the rewriting of history.”
And X users agreed:
It is because what they did goes against “Defend our Democracy” to install a candidate chosen by the elites of the party, and not their voters.
And most media outlets will happily push that narrative as well— Michael Cassidy ✝️ (@MichaelCassidy) July 25, 2024
All of history is being rewritten right now

I'm here with you on the first part, Christopher. Joe was forced out.
But you know very well why the democrat/media complex is trying to enlighten everyone about this. Abandoning a duly elected candidate against his will in favor of another who received zero votes….

It's just another part of the endless stream of propaganda

All part of the deal negotiated with Biden? to abandon stay hidden We'll paint you as the best president ever because of it.
The media receives its marching orders from the White House.
