The Border Patrol has called for reinforcements to help as agents grow increasingly overwhelmed by migrants in one area of southern Arizona, according to an internal message Sunday to agency officials obtained exclusively by the Daily Caller News Foundation.
Border Patrol agents from the Douglas, Ariz., station are being called to assist agents at the Tucson Migrant Processing Center, which temporarily holds migrants who cross the border illegally. The Border Patrol has roughly 4,600 illegal migrants in custody as of Sunday evening across the Tucson sector, compared with nearly 20,000 nationwide, two Department of Homeland Security (DHS) officials said, asking the anonymity because they were not authorized to speak publicly. the DCNF.
Douglas officers are being called for “processing and transport support,” according to the memo. The assignments will also involve sending specialized units, such as mounted patrols, and manning sensors for illegal aliens fleeing law enforcement.
“Until further notice, all specialist units (Sensors, HPU, BCL) will report to Douglas Station and attend meetings on their scheduled shifts,” the memo said. “HPU will maintain one officer to look after the horses, but all others will be deployed as needed by the watch commander.”
The situation in the Tucson sector has become so dire that the Tucson Border Patrol announced on Sunday that it was temporarily shutting down its social media.
“In light of the ongoing surge in migration, all Border Patrol Sector Tucson social media accounts will be paused until further notice,” the announcement said. “We appreciate your understanding and continued support during this difficult time. Honor first.”

The Border Patrol has it recorded record illegal immigration at the southern border in recent years. In fiscal year 2022, Border Patrol encounters exceeded 2.2 million, followed by more than 2 million in fiscal year 2023.
“This is shameful,” said one of the DHS officials, adding that the blame lies with the Biden administration.
“Everyone is out of line to process him,” the official added.
