Riley Gaines asks if Dems will call it 'transphobia' when woman dies at hands of trans athlete

-

Riley Gaines, a former college athlete who was forced to compete against biological men, wants to know what it will take for people to wake up.

In a column written this weekend for the daily mail, basically asked what it will take, maybe a woman dying at the hands of a “transgender female” athlete? — before the far left like MP Summer Lee woke up to the reality of the damage being done to women's sport.

Lee is a rabid Democrat who last week called Riley a “transphobe” after she testified before Congress on behalf of women's rights:

Gaines did not appreciate the defamation.

“I was horrified,” she wrote in her column. “How dare a member of Congress sit in the trash as hateful bigots to those who had come to speak about their own experiences and defend women's rights, despite the grave risk of death threats and physical violence.”

“How did it come to this? Why it is more politically expedient for those on the left to prioritize the whims of the trans lobby, a tiny but vocal minority, over the rights of millions of women and girls in everything from sports to prison security, domestic violence shelters, changes? rooms and sanitary environments,” he added.

Part of the problem, he continued, is that “too few” people are willing to take a stand on this issue because of the “daily harassment” that comes with it. Gaines knows this harassment all too well because he has faced it since he started speaking out.

“But I refuse to be silent,” he wrote. “I have shelved plans to become a dentist and have instead pledged to stand up for women for as long as it takes. Although, you might ask, why would it take a 23-year-old woman to holding our leaders accountable when so much is at stake?

good question

Why, too, she asked, did most of the world remain silent last week after two biological men took the top two spots in the single speed category at the Illinois cyclocross state championships, leaving the woman to occupy the place of bronze?

“Is this what the feminist movement fought for?” Gaines wondered. “Because two men atop a female podium seems to me to be the perfect embodiment of the oppressive patriarchy that leftists like to scream about.”

“What hope is there for young female athletes, like I once was, who have spent their entire lives training tirelessly, missing social events, eating carefully, aching to succeed in a small window of opportunity? “How can their mothers and grandmothers look them in the eye and honestly tell them that hard work is worth it,” she added.

Continuing her column, Gaines explained how she got involved in all of this herself: “A lot of people will already know my story, tying at the NCAA championships last year with 6'4′ Thomas, who had been swimming for three years previously in a men's team. I was denied the trophy and told that it was crucial that Thomas was seen holding it in front of the cameras. Despite achieving exactly the same time, I had to go home empty-handed empty”.

It was terribly unfair. But according to Gaines, it's about more than justice.

“But this is not just injustice, but a serious danger to women's safety. In non-contact sports like swimming, as with much of cycling, competitors stay in their own lanes, posing little risk to each other. Maybe that's what makes it so easy for hardliners like Rep. Lee to scoff at my testimony in Congress. But what about contact sports?” she wrote

“Disturbing headlines are already trickling in. In 2021, footage of trans MMA fighter Alana McLaughlin holding Celine Provost in a chokehold, Provost's blood smeared on the floor, shocked the world. In 2022 , 18-year-old Payton McNabb suffered debilitating head and neck injuries after a trans student punched her in the face during a volleyball game in North Carolina,” it added.

FYI, McNabb is still recovering from his injuries.

Concluding his column, Gaines asked “when will enough be enough?”

“How many female athletes must suffer at the hands of biological males? If injuries like McNabb's don't stop this march of insanity on the track, do we have to suffer a death for our cause to be heard? he asked sincerely.

“All the polls show that an overwhelming silent majority understands and sees this madness for what it is. My call to women everywhere is that silence now means complicity. It's time we all called out the misogynists,” she added.
