Ralph Lauren dresses Team USA for the Paris Olympics in American-inspired Athleisure

Since 2008, Ralph Lauren has been the official outfit of Team USA at nine consecutive Olympic and Paralympic Games, designing uniforms for athletes to wear at the Opening and Closing Ceremonies, as well as a larger capsule wardrobe for for use during and after the Games. This year, for the Summer Olympics, the brand is bringing its quintessential vision of Americana and preppy athleisure to Paris, the fashion capital of the world. The new collection is inspired by the dynamic and vibrant host city and embraces a patriotic spirit reflected in a red, white and blue color palette.

David Lauren, Ralph Lauren's head of brand and innovation, expressed pride in dressing Team USA. He stated that they worked closely with the athletes and the Olympic Committee to create a collection that tells a story about America. The goal is for athletes to feel like ambassadors for American culture, leadership and sportsmanship on a global stage.

At the opening ceremony, Team USA athletes will wear a classic Ralph Lauren navy blazer with red and white detailing, paired with a striped Oxford shirt, navy knit tie and light denim jeans sharp Denim also featured prominently in the Closing Ceremony ensembles, which included a race car-style jacket with US patch detailing, a classic striped polo and crisp white jeans.

Tokyo 2020 bronze medalist Paralympic swimmer Jamal Hill praised the collection for combining classic American style with a contemporary feel. Athletes honored as Team USA's flag bearers at the opening and closing ceremonies will receive versions of these looks in different colors to help them stand out from the crowd.

In addition to the ceremony attire, athletes will also receive pieces from a special Villagewear commemorative collection. This clothing line, named in reference to the Athletes Village, will feature versions of classic Ralph Lauren pieces and will be available for purchase. As a first for the brand, this year's collection also includes a 100% recycled polo shirt.

Sarah Hirshland, CEO of the United States Olympic/Paralympic Committee, praised Ralph Lauren's designs, stating that they not only capture the essence of American style but also embody the team spirit and pride of the USA He added that this iconic apparel serves as a symbol of unity and inspiration for both the team and their fans.
