A Harris campaign surrogate's attempt to take a swipe at former President Donald Trump earned Fox News anchor Martha MacCallum a sharp eye roll.
“Oh come on. Come on.”

Records seemed to be meaningless to the Democratic Party, as even events that had happened a week earlier were shelved to fit the day's agenda. That was the case Friday on “The Story With Martha MacCallum,” when Colorado Rep. Jason Crow (D) joined the Fox News host in an attempt to score points for Trump's lack of commitment to a debate with Vice President Kamala Harris.
Bringing in Crow to speak on behalf of the presumptive Democratic nominee, MacCallum began: “Given that there's been an upheaval in the Democratic ticket, it seems only fair that you want to say, 'Okay, now?' we have a new situation. Are we going to have this debate and that debate and these are the terms and let the two sides carve them out?
Ignoring the fact that voters had had a say in making President Joe Biden the presumptive nominee before his disastrous debate with Trump, the congressman tried: “The last debate, Martha, happened when neither candidate were his nominee so what has changed i think the obvious answer is that he is afraid of that change he is acting like he is a combat veteran fear and fatigue when I see it and he's acting tired and scary here.”
“You know, somebody has to wake him up, and I know he's having a hard time staying awake; you know he repeatedly fell asleep at his own nominating convention and he repeatedly fell asleep at his own criminal trial,” he said. Crow as MacCallum might. They are seen rolling their eyes at the statement, “someone needs to wake him up and let him know that the next generation of American leadership is here and on the way.”
Even before his guest had finished speaking, the anchor was interjecting, “Oh, come on. Come on.”
What followed was Crow deflecting as MacCallum pushed for Harris to commit to more than one debate, arguing on behalf of his network for a chance to pit the candidates against each other.
Of course, the exchange didn't address the fact that in the previous week, Democrats were trying to score points against Trump's running mate, Ohio Sen. JD Vance, for not agreeing to a debate with Harris who demonstrate foresight.
“We don't know who the Democratic nominee for vice president will be, so we can't set a date before their convention,” said Brian Hughes, Trump's senior campaign adviser. said in a statement just days before Biden withdrew from his campaign and Harris supplanted him at the top of the ticket. “To do so would be unfair to Gavin Newsom, JB Pritzker, Gretchen Whitmer or whoever Kamala Harris chooses as her running mate.”
Immediately after speaking with Crow, MacCallum called on Trump campaign senior adviser Alina Habba to offer the Republican view of the debates following its composition. “I'm literally at a loss, Martha. I laughed as I listened to this for anyone to ever say that President Trump is scared.”
“Not only is he not afraid,” he continued, “bring it on. And put it on American terms, not under CNN and your stations with your terms and microphones off because you're afraid.”
To say President Trump is scared is laughable. After all he has faced, fear is not in his vocabulary. Bring it.
