Neighbors of former President Donald J. Trump's would-be assassin say they never saw a political sign in Thomas Matthew Crooks' yard that made his political affiliation clear.
The 20-year-old Pennsylvania man who nearly ended Trump's presidential bid with a bullet was a registered Republican, but two neighbors told Fox News Digital there was nothing about the Bethel Park home that indicated enthusiasm for GOP or their nominee.
The women, named Amy and Holly, told the outlet that “the media would be hard-pressed to find a neighbor who could vouch for any sign seen in the Crooks' yard.”

“I give the signs, and I've never given to this house, I'll tell you that,” said Holly, who is a local GOP captain, casting doubt on how fervent a Republican Crooks might have been.
“I walk by all the time, other neighbors do,” Amy said. “You won't find any neighbors who will ever confirm or say they saw these signs in the yard.”
“I'm on a Republican committee here in Bethel Park,” Holly added. “I am a committee woman, and I knock on the door everywhere: for [Dr. Mehmet] Oz, for [GOP gubernatorial nominee Doug] Mastriano, for Trump, for all.”
She told Fox News Digital that she had “never knocked on the door at the Crooks' home; campaigns and activists often have access to voter lists with likely voters from their respective parties,” according to the outlet.
“I know who the Republicans are. I mean, it's not on the list,” Holly said.
Crooks gave money to a left-wing PAC on the day of Biden's inauguration, a small amount of $15, but still, it's an inconvenient detail for a media outlet working to build a narrative that kills him failed was an ardent Republican, if not a Trump supporter.
“Crooks' mother, Mary, is registered as a Democrat, while his father is registered as a Libertarian.” seconds on Fox News.
“I drive up and down this street all the time because it's the way we get out to go to the main road,” Amy said, “and I never saw him out.”
“I think it was about a month and a half ago,” he said of the only memory he has of Crooks that happened when he was working in his yard. “He was like that; he was just walking with his head down … and at one point he turned his head, and he just kept his head down.”
At least one other neighbor interviewed by another news outlet claimed there were signs in the yard.
“There were absolutely signs of support for MAGA for a while,” Kelly Little he said WTAE.
One of Crooks' former classmates recalls being teased by the now-dead shooter for his support of Trump because he is Hispanic.
“I brought up the fact that I'm Hispanic and, you know, I'm for Trump. And he said, 'Well, you're Hispanic, so shouldn't you hate Trump?'” Vincent Taormina he said Fox News Digital. “No. He's great. He was a great president. He called me stupid, or implied I was stupid.”
“He just didn't like politicians, especially with the options we had,” he added. “He didn't like our politicians.”
“He talked and talked and acted like he knew everything, especially related to politics, and he said it in a tone that was like, 'I'm better than you,' in a way,” Taormina said.
