Rabid left-wing MSNBC viewers who tuned in Monday to hear what the “Morning Joe” crew had to say about former President Donald Trump's assassination attempt were sorely disappointed.
Absent from the air were Trump co-hosts Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski and their panel of endorsement panelists. Instead, NBC News was scheduled to air special continuing news coverage of the assassination attempt on Saturday. A spokesperson told CNN that the network's top-rated morning show would return to air on Tuesday.
CNN thought the decision in the wake of Saturday's shooting and the start of the Republican National Convention on Monday was “sure to raise eyebrows.”
impressive In this morning of unique impact, #MSNBC brings out his signature show #MorningJoe, for fear that some jackwagon panelist might say something grotesquely inappropriate. Deeply pathetic… and probably a smart move on their part. pic.twitter.com/JqqDSGfz9f

“The fact that Morning Joe's own network can't trust its flagship brand not to spew reckless and inflammatory crap during breaking news tells you all you need to know about the credibility of MSNBC's lineup,” he said a veteran Republican consultant. Fox News Digital.
A person familiar with the decision to pull “Morning Joe” told CNN on Monday that “it was done to avoid a scenario where one of the show's more than two dozen stable guests could make an inappropriate comment on live television that could be used to attack the program and the network as a whole.”
“Given the breaking news nature of the story, the person said, it made more sense to continue to air breaking news coverage in the fraught political moment,” he said. CNN reported
Scarborough and Brzezinski were part of the decision-making process, joining Cesar Conde, the president of NBCUniversal News Group, and MSNBC president Rashida Jones in making the call.
“Given the seriousness and complexity of this developing story, NBC News, NBC News NOW and MSNBC have remained in breaking news coverage since Saturday evening,” a spokesperson for NBCUniversal News Group said. in a statement. “As we continue to cover this story throughout the week, the networks will continue to simulcast, alternating between NBC News, NBC News NOW and 'MSNBC Reports,' so there is one news channel covering this developing situation.”
Fans of the show were not happy.
“What the hell, MSNBC? You got ahead of your excellent weekend schedule…and now you've shut up [Morning Joe] in favor of your anodyne streaming news cos-play called Ara? liberal journalist Jeff Jarvis wrote in X. “This is when we need the analysis and conversation these shows bring us (yes, with controversy; that's how public discourse works: with discussion). It's shocking that NBC/Comcast don't understand their own company's programs and raison d'être.”
But a veteran Republican consultant told Fox News it showed a lack of confidence on MSNBC's part.
“The fact that Morning Joe's own network can't trust its flagship brand not to spew reckless, inflammatory crap during breaking news tells you all you need to know about the credibility of MSNBC's lineup,” he say the consultant.
Others were also shocked by the move and took to X to air their reactions.
oh my @MSNBC ditched prom king and queen this morning and went with a live anchor/news desk delivery. How do you read it? Afraid the Morning Joe team won't be able to control their language? pic.twitter.com/LExdHkVp1M

Taking Morning Joe off the air is an admission.

Wow! @NBCNews @MSNBC pulled Morning Joe off the air this morning over concerns its hosts would go off the rails; this may be the first sane programming decision made at MSNBC in decades

Joe Scarborough has done more damage to this country than almost anyone else in the last 8 years and it took almost murdering a former president for his own employers to realize it.

ABC may want to do the same with sight. This morning's Vegas odds will be fodder for pundits and GOP campaign ads.

The Morning Joe attraction is a public admission that NBC's “News” strategy has been to push an issue that Trump is the problem and causes violence. When we all know that this leftist media shows lies and stokes the anger of the left.
