A now-deleted video of Robert F. Kennedy Jr. speaking on the phone with former President Donald Trump prompted an online apology from the independent presidential candidate.
An RFK Jr. “mortified” apologized to Trump in a message to X addressing leaked video footage of a private call between the White House hopefuls that his son, Bobby Kennedy III, posted online.
“I strongly believe that these types of conversations should be held in public,” the younger Kennedy wrote in the post, explaining that Trump was on the phone “giving my father his real opinion about vaccinating children.”
He also took a shot at Sen. JD Vance (R-OH), recently named as Trump's running mate, as he appeared to have some beef with Trump choosing “JD “fire all unvaccinated nurses” Vance” over “a ticket of unity”.
Bobby Kennedy III seems disturbed not by what Trump said, but by the fact that Trump chose Vance as his running mate over RFK Jr. But it's worth noting that he and many others missed the sarcasm of Vance's tweet about firing unvaccinated nurses. pic.twitter.com/mLxwJk9IOD

Some speculated that the dig at Vance was after a 2022 tweet in which he discussed firing nurses “who refuse to get the vaccine.” The tweet received notes from the community that pointed out Vance's sarcasm.
JD Vance says for starters let's fire thousands of nurses who refuse to vaccinate and that will help. I wish I could be someone else and see the reports about Bobby RFK supposedly being the choice, but I wish it wasn't JD. I won't lie #Trump. pic.twitter.com/GB86D7set6

In the video clip of Kennedy still circulating on X, Trump can be heard talking to RFK Jr. on Sunday, the day after the attempt on his life at a demonstration in Pennsylvania.
“Something's wrong with this whole system. And it's the doctors, you see. Remember when I said I wanted to do small doses? Small doses. When you feed a baby, Bobby, a vaccine that's like 38 different vaccines, and it seems to be meant for a horse, not for a … you know a 10- or 20-pound baby,” Trump said.
“It looks like you're giving this to a horse. And you never see the size of it, do you? You know, it's huge. And then you see the baby start to change radically all of a sudden. I've seen it too many times. And then you hear that it doesn't have any impact, does it? But you and I talked about it a long time ago,” he continued.
The subject moved on to the two men potentially working together at some point in the future.
“Anyway, I'd love for you to do things. And I think it would be really good for you and so great for you. And we're going to win. We're going to win. We're way ahead of the guy,” he said, obviously referring to to President Joe Biden, who called Trump shortly after being grazed by the would-be assassin's bullet.
“Called me. And he said, 'How did you choose to move to the right?'” Trump explained. “I just turned my head to show the chart. And something hit me. It felt like a giant … like the biggest mosquito in the world. And it was. It was a bullet going around. You know, what they call it that, an AR-15 or something? That was a pretty tough gun, right?”
Bobby Kennedy III ended up deleting the video, but it was already available on social media.
His father apologized to him.
“When President Trump called me, I was recording with an internal videographer. I should have ordered the videographer to stop recording immediately,” Kennedy wrote. “I am mortified that this was published. I apologize to the president.”
When President Trump called me, I was filming with an in-house videographer. He should have ordered the videographer to stop recording immediately. I am mortified that this has been posted. I apologize to the president.

Kennedy denied he planned to drop out of the race, telling X that he and Trump, who reportedly met in Milwaukee at the Republican National Convention, discussed “national unity.”
There are a lot of rumors about my meeting this morning with President Trump. Our main theme was national unity, and I look forward to meeting with Democratic leaders on that as well. No, I'm not quitting the race.

The independent candidate also called out Trump for calling for Biden to finally grant RFK Jr. Secret Service protection. who has been requesting.
It is a hopeful sign for our country when a political opponent asks for protection. Maybe our country can come together after all. pic.twitter.com/Nfd3yXAh1F
