The timing of Luna's vote remains uncertain, as House Speaker Mike Johnson, a Louisiana Republican, has said. as reported advised him to delay temporarily. Remarkably, a vote to retain a cabinet member in inherent contempt has not occurred in nearly a century.
Explaining his position, Luna clarified that under the inherent contempt proceedings, the person in question would be summoned by the Sergeant-at-Arms to appear before the Chamber, subsequently subjected to trial by the body. Arrest of the non-compliant individual may occur within the Capitol or in Washington, DC
They are hiding the truth. Protect those with the power of justice and delegate power to the unelected. This is the problem that everyone campaigns to get here, but forgets when they get comfortable. https://t.co/aOJT0EreCq

This push for inherent contempt comes on the heels of a previous June vote in the GOP-dominated House where Attorney General Garland was held in contempt of Congress. The vote was prompted by Garland's refusal to release the audio recording of special counsel Robert Hur's interview with Joe Biden during the classified documents investigation.

While Hur's report did not bring charges against Biden, it did mention that, based on his interview, Biden presented himself as an elderly man with a poor memory, likely sympathetic to a juror.
