Keith Olbermann's bemused view of the judge in the Trump classified documents case showed yet again how the left continues to miss the irony of its own meltdowns.
The former MSNBC commentator was not pleased with Monday's news that Florida-based Judge Aileen Cannon had thrown out the case against former president and current GOP nominee Donald Trump, finding in a ruling Monday that the appointment of special counsel Jack Smith violated the Constitution.
“In the end, it appears that the Executive's growing comfort in appointing 'regulatory' special counsels in the most recent era has followed an ad hoc pattern with little judicial scrutiny,” Cannon wrote in a ruling 93-page opinion that said Smith, who was leading the prosecution of the case against Trump, was not legally appointed and therefore did not have the authority to bring the case at all.
This prompted a wave of “expert” opinions weighing in on how the judge's argument could be used to dismiss the Hunter Biden gun case as well.
Olbermann wanted Cannon transported to prison for his decision.
“President Biden should take the mask of SCOTUS immunity and have Merrick Garland arrest Aileen Cannon. If they need to offset a charge, take her off to impersonate a judge,” wrote the left-wing commentator on X.

Somehow leftists who have spent eons sounding the alarm about Trump's threat to democracy continue to excuse their own behavior.
The stunning development with Cannon follows the US Supreme Court's ruling earlier this month on presidential immunity. And it comes after a historic weekend when the former president became the target of a would-be assassin at his rally in Pennsylvania.
The classified documents case centered on Trump's alleged possession of sensitive national security documents at his Mar-a-Lago home in Palm Beach, Florida, after he left the White House. He is also accused of obstructing government officials who were trying to retrieve the documents in question.
“The framers gave Congress a fundamental role in the appointment of chief and inferior officers. That role cannot be usurped by the Executive Branch or spread elsewhere, either in this case or in any other case, either in times of 'increased national necessity or not,'' Cannon wrote in his ruling Monday.
“In the case of junior officers, this means that Congress has the power to decide whether it wants to confer the power of appointment on a department head, and indeed Congress has shown itself able to do so in many other contexts statutes,” he added. . “But he clearly didn't do that here, despite the Special Counsel's strained readings of the statute.”
Olbermann's call for the judge to arrest Biden's DOJ was met with expected derision on social media.
No, the president should not “invent a charge” to arrest a judge.

Ah yes, nothing like saving democracy by imprisoning judges who rule against you.

Nothing says saving democracy like jailing judges on trumped-up charges because you don't make a legally sound decision.

I thought he said support democracy. You are a bitter old man, who is always angry. Maybe it's time to take a break.

Yes, we “lower the temperature” and “defend democracy” by arresting judges with whom we do not agree.

Actually Keith, it's Jack Smith who needs to be transported to pose as a special counsel.

Nothing says protecting democracy like “inventing a charge.”

Biden: Tone down the rhetoric.
Olbermann: Detention Judge Cannon.
These people cannot change.
