These employees admitted that they often shared hilarious, and sometimes embarrassing, videos of Tesla owners with each other on their own private chat network.

Some of the recordings caught Tesla customers in embarrassing situations. A former employee described a video of a man approaching a vehicle completely naked.

Also shared: accidents and road rage incidents. A video of the crash in 2021 showed a Tesla driving at high speed in a residential area hitting a child who was riding a bicycle, according to another former employee. The boy flew in one direction, the bike in another. The video spread through a Tesla office in San Mateo, Calif., via one-on-one private chats, “like wildfire,” the former employee said.
